We went to check out the house and 1) someone had already signed a contract and 2) it was a dump. The realtor mentioned the owners had been struggling since the recession and there had been no money to keep up with maintenance. Uhuh. I guess they also didn't have money for cleaning supplies and found the need to trash the bathroom in their anger while their cat peed in every corner. This wasn't just neglect from the last five years, there was at least a decade of dirt in there.

And still I'm sad because the location was perfect. The structure was perfect. The garden was amazing. The porch was wide and had an amazing view. There was an extra little house for me to turn into a writing studio! I mean, that never happens! Basically, it was everything I wanted except covered in filth and smelling of cat urine.

"Maybe if we wait until the people who bought it have fixed it up and then gone bankrupt from having to spend so much money on it?" I said hopefully. *sighs*

I'm stupidly disappointed. Maybe because I'm always looking at houses but this is the first time we've liked something well enough to go check it out and talked about buying it as a possibility, like maybe it's actually time. For some reason I'm somehow more pissed off that it was in such a bad shape than that someone had already bought it. It was just such a prefect little house, ruined by lazy owners. I hope whoever bought it treats it well. And then goes bankrupt so we can buy it from them.
