Failing at subtext.
Me to hubby: Here read this
Hubby: *reads* *frowns*
Me: What would you say it was about?
Hubby: *not happy* It's obvious, isn't it!
Me: Just tell me, what were you thinking as you were reading it?
Hubby: *very upset* I was thinking 'Why is she making me read something so disgusting?!?'
Me: O.O Ooookay. Then I guess I went too far.
What was meant to implement adultery apparently came out as sexual abuse. Which, yes, was the SUBsubtext but he wasn't supposed to realize that until the second part.
*sighs* Back to the writing board.
Ps. This is for school btw, not fic. And we just recently talked about how much if anything we learn about the author through their writing. Wonder what this will tell them if they get to read it. o.O
