Help!

Okay, the skull beanie I was knitting for my daughter (as a try-out piece for the Xmas presents) ended up way too big. Now I know I can shrink it in the washer/dryer but I've never done that before and don't want to ruin it.

Any hints? What program, how long time in the dryer? Etc etc.
