I Need Read!
About to wander off to the library to acquire a shitload of books. Like I'll be reading anything but HBP this weekend...
Anyway, the list of what I intend to find, and why:
The Chocolate War - Because from what I can tell, and the snippets I read, it's the classic teen rebel novel that Catcher in the Rye wanted to be when it grew up. Also, it just looks good.
Kite Runner - Because trelali kept talking about it.
Spanking the Donkey - Because this guy followed John Kerry around in a gorilla suit! HE IS MY NEW JOURNALISM HERO.*
Everything Bad is Good For You - Because I need more ways to BS that playing video games makes me super-smart.
America: The Book - Because I am Jon Stewart's bitch.
Whichever, if any, of these books that I find will be taken home very soon.
* = My old journalism hero was the former UIL Academic Director who I interviewed for State. I'm still thrilled that he told me I asked good questions. Who knows if he meant it, but I'm proud about it.
EDIT: Predictably, I found none of these books. But I did check out Dolores Claiborne (which I've already read, but felt like re-reading) and a book on Judaism. (There are five or six books on Islam, a million books on Christianity, but only one on Judaism! Possibly because there are only two Jews in this town, counting myself, and I am a fake Jew!)
