If I were a superstitious man then I say that every time i'm pessimistic then the exact opposite happened; when we used to roleplay I used to 'i'll strike a might blow' and i'd miss. If i said 'i've only got this useless rotten stick of a staff and it'll hardly bounce off let alone hurt', i'd cut the enemy in half.
The could be said about the snow. Before the snow hit Edinburgh this weekend I was a nae-sayer every time someone mention snow, my exact words being 'i'll believe it when I see it' and
this is what I get. Saturday I took it easy due to the icy layer coating everything, exactly the type of snow I expect when people give apocalyptic statements on weather. So I had some hopes but more cynicism regarding the snow for Sunday...
Then when I got up, after the worst night of sleep in a long time due to aching arms from weights on Friday, I got my cold weather gear and camera and ran out in to the snow. It's pretty much as it was just before Christmas last year. A good several inches of fresh powder, nice and fluffy without being icy or wet. Ran around Arthur's Seat then up it. Except for the picture from my phone above you'll have to wait for the others as I can't find my USB cable for my camera.
The conditions were amazing when I set out at about 7.30, still slightly dark but the snow was fairly light with few other nutters out yet. I did some scrambling which was great fun but also scary as hell. It's a fairly easy route but in the conditions it took ages as I had to clear the snow and check the positions before going forward (really didn't help my arms heal!).
