Is a storm the same thing as a [pause, making sure he's spelling it right] a hurricane?

Not always--a hurricane is a type of storm.

Like an apple is a type of fruit?

[pause] Is a storm a kind of monster?

[pauses]

Yes, exactly. And no, a storm is a type of severe weather, usually with a lot of wind. A hurricane has rain, and strong winds in a circular pattern.

It gets you wet and spins you around? It sounds mean.

It's not mean any more than the sun or the snow is. It's just weather.

They're not alive, and they don't have feelings. So even if they cause a lot of damage, there's no malice in the action.

All right. As long as you're able to get out before the storm arrives.

So even if they hurt you and break things, it's not them being mean because they're not alive.

I'll be okay, but thanks!

Right. Wind is just air, and rain and snow are just water. If you can, it's best to just seek shelter to avoid getting hurt.

Will the tree be okay? It's not getting a lot of sunlight with all the dark in the sky.

The tree is pretty strong. I doubt a few days without sun will hurt it.

It's pretty strong to hold us all up. I bet it'll be hungry when the light is back.
