Hello everyone! This post is just to keep all the Guard players informed of routine changes in staffing, as well as information and announcements in times of emergency. Please keep this entry tracked, so you and your character can be informed of things going on in the game--I’ll do my best to keep this as up to date as possible.
And if you want to post something that all the Guards should know as well, feel free! Just put the approximate date (and time, if applicable) in the subject heading.
Thanks to Cham for the idea! ♥
Scheduling:
Ever since a newborn killed one of the Guards on duty, Guards are now almost always assigned in pairs to the Hatchery; one person always has some sort of superhuman ability. I’ve never set up a formal schedule, both because I am lazy, and also because I want to allow players the flexibility to decide where their characters are at any given time.
This hasn’t been specified before, but I think it makes sense to have two Guards at the Hatchery (one near the door, for example, and one inside with the Greeter). There are also two Guards in temporary housing at all times.
Children and young teens will always be part-time, because God, go out and play or something.
Emergencies
In times of emergency, Guards will be expected to secure the Hatchery and help transport cocoons if necessary (during evacuations, for example). They are also expected to work with the Watch and the Adventurers to keep people safe.
When crimes are committed, the resources of the Guard are available to the Watch, but the Watch takes the lead on any investigations--if the Guard is involved, it's in a support capacity.
Chain of Command
Bell is Bastet’s second in command, and Lin is her paper wench stalker assistant. As a full-time Guard and Bastet’s assistant, Lin has sufficient authority to give orders if something happens to both Bell and Bastet.
Sky is in an odd position; while he’s got seniority in terms of time served, he’s also part-time now due to also serving on the Watch. However, he also has the authority to step in if needed, and Bastet will trust him to shuffle priorities between his two jobs as necessary.
Reporting
Guards are expected to submit twice-weekly reports on their shifts/patrols. These go to Lin who reviews and files them, then she passes anything out of the ordinary on to Bastet.
Fitness
Bastet expects her Guards to train and keep themselves and their skills sharp. In order to assist with this, Bastet will occasionally train her troops by jumping at them from out of nowhere for an impromptu spar. This is purely for their own benefit and maybe a little for her amusement as well. If you’re interested in her targeting your character, let me know. XD
