ooc; memory crystal #4

Dec 09, 2008 19:55

Late, backdated to November 30/December 1. Sight/touch crystal.

Bastet curled her legs beneath her on the floor, winding the blanket around herself and settling her back against the bed. She held the memory crystal she'd finally won from Praise by the rings, having waited a day or so before choosing to activate it.

She briefly considered waiting for Sniper, then shrugged. If this did make her pass out, he'd be back soon enough. Mugen poked his head out of her nest of blankets, lifting a tiny paw to bat at the glittering crystal in her hand.

"No," she said firmly, lifting it out of his reach. "Stop being nosy." It was too cold in here to let him sit by himself, so she'd let him stay on her lap beneath the blanket.

She eyed the crystal, then shrugged. "Here goes," she murmured, closing her fingers around the facets.

She was under a waterfall, a cloth draped over her arms. The rushing water was strangely silent in this memory, although she could feel it sheeting over her skin, as well as the wet fabric clinging to her hips.

Turning in response to a call she couldn't hear, she saw a young blonde woman approaching her. Her cheeks were bright red, and she had an earnest, energetic manner. She extended a pen and pad of paper---for an autograph? How strange.

Bastet took the pen, replying to the woman even as the sensation of being watched grew stronger. Coolly, she popped off the pen cap with a thumb, launching it into the branches of a nearby tree. A woman with a camera fell to the ground, looking startled and sheepish all at once.

Ling? What the hell? One of the women from her dream, the one Lezard knew. Small, dark eyes, hair in two long tails--Bastet was startled by the rush of wry affection that washed over her. She missed this person, and suddenly cursed that she hadn't had enough time to question Unohana about her as well.

Even if she couldn't hear what she was saying to Ling, her body language screamed "Hell, no," loud and clear. As Bastet advanced on her, the memory began to fade, Ling's apprehensive face the last thing she saw.

Bastet came back to herself in her room as the memory ended, Mugen curled up against her belly in a ball. "Well," she said out loud, setting the crystal down. "I guess my friends have always been retarded."
