OOC: Application Update//Reset Information

Mar 14, 2009 14:18

Again, this is information posted to update the application for Oliver Long. This is not a required post; however, I know that I sometimes refer to the apps as a player to see where people are from and what is going on in their lives and such, and so I am adding to that application here with this addendum, following the reset of Oliver.

Please note that he still cannot return until Sunday Night in game, and I might not be able to get on until Monday Morning after work (US time) to post.

The original application can be found here.

***WARNING: The following may contain things that, while not explicit, are not pleasant and may upset or offend some readers. This is your warning.***

World: Addendum While Oliver's world is mundane, there is a difference, an important difference, between 'ours' and 'his', beyond the racial differences. See, his world connects to other worlds. At least, it connects to a central Nexus, a place where many worlds meet and where laws are...very different from the world he grew up in.

The Nexus is a place that makes an odd pokemon and talking wolf seem normal. Vampires, anthropomorphic animals, various incarnations of 'canon' characters, gods, demons; you name it, chance are it can be found in the Nexus. There are people Oliver might 'know' even though, upon returning, he's never met the them represented here. There might be warnings regarding certain races, like vampires, he'll simply ignore because, well, he's seen worse. Don't expect much in the way of differences to faze him, because he'll have seen something even stranger.

Personality: Addendum On the surface, after he settles in, Oliver will not seem terribly different than before. There will still be that level of shy hinted at, the slight dislike of crowds, the limp wrist, and the love of music.

However, they aren't the same as they were. The Shy is more an act, and if he blushes now, it is almost certainly a calculated move on his part to 'play' the other person, a thing he does without even thinking. When pressed, the fact that his front is almost always a lie becomes rapidly apparent; the easy-going return to his 'old' manners is not 'real'.

He is easily frightened, but not easily intimidated; he hides himself well, however. It would take something big to get him to show fear. He is no longer easily embarrassed, and he has no shame (this will likely cause him a bit of trouble at some point).

Oliver does tend to blame himself a bit much; this is taken to extremes now. Because when he does wrong, he needs punishment, and if it is not forthcoming, he'll see to it himself. Despite this, however, he is not someone who gets off on self-harm or really likes it or wants to do it, and he certainly isn't suicidal (however much it may appear otherwise at times).

Finally, Oliver is not a stable individual anymore. When I say he is crazy, I mean that in the most literal sense. This won't always appear, because he can mostly control himself, but it doesn't take a lot to break him again, if you know his triggers, and when he breaks, Oliver checks out and no one bothers to check back in...or even change the linens.

Background: Addendum The first few years after Oliver was first apped are easy: take what should have happened but didn't when he went to Adstring (going on with school, more music, applying for University, sorta coming out to his brother like thirteen times before he managed it properly) and there you go.

Until January of their freshmen year at Uni. Then all hell broke lose. See, they were away at a foreign school, not home in England. It had one of the best programs for music while still offering shit for Wyatt, so it was a no brainer. Things were fine. And then there was a new year, and then there was fighting on the borders and ships going missing and no more airline tickets out of the capital because they'd all been bought and then...then there were the bombs.

It was all conventional, at least, while they were involved, but that was bad enough. They ran, like the rest of the students. Except Oliver forgot his inhaler. Oliver needed the inhaler. They went back.

It was the third worst mistake either of them ever made.

They were captured by enemy soldiers, and taken away. Far away. They were taken right out of their world through a door, and to the Nexus. Specifically, a large mountain/island in the Nexus, a place that housed the largest slave trading complex in fifty worlds (according to the owners, at least).

Twins, pretty, young, untouched; the brothers were lucky. Kept together. Put in the upper levels, with the pleasure slaves. Things happened, sure, but by and large, it was a life they could live. After it went from feeling like rape to being a job, things got easier. It helped, that they were together. The hardship, the pain and the bad days and the poor food and the 'masters' and 'mistresses' they saw to--all drove them together. At some point, it stopped being brothers comforting one another, but in a place like that, they were lucky to find love at all.

The second worst mistake either of them ever made was also Oliver's fault. Under the knife of a sick man, he asked for Wyatt. When he had the chance, he escaped the room to save his brother from the man's anger, but he was followed. It cost him his ear and a bit of innocence. For the first time, he hurt someone: he stabbed the man to save his brother's life.

After that, the guards sent the man away, and they were safe, relatively speaking. Each gained a few scars, but they were good stock, valuable. They weren't allowed to the worst customers. Ever.

And then the worst mistake. Wyatt messed with the wrong woman. She bought him. Oliver was alone for almost two weeks, until the day after his brother had been broken under torture. Then, she saw him in the cages, and flew into a rage: she thought he was Wyatt.

...in the months since they were purchased, Oliver fought her, struggled to remain himself, to protect Wyatt, to draw her ire when his brother might have gotten it instead, but in the end, he broke, too.

Things seemed to get better, until she let her guard down, and they were, for a few minutes, a broken little family. Then, it all went wrong. Then, he made what might become the new worst mistake of his life...

Also! New PB for Oliver (and Wyatt, you might have noticed): Michael Pitt. Whee.

((A Song for you. Think of it as Oliver to the rest of the cast? I unno. <3))
