i'm having a strange little happy crisis.
my professor has asked me to be a part of the art show for open house this coming november, and i'm not even majoring in fine arts or photography or interior design. i'm one of five students from the business oriented majors asked to contribute, and i'm really, really flattered. i have a project coming up that i could possibly use for the show, but i really want to wow people and convince mummies and daddies to send their little kids to my school. the art has to be overwhelming, and i'm going bonkers trying to think of something ridiculously beautiful. i have decided that i would do a photography spread, manipulated of course. but my prof wanted me to mimic a photo shoot for the fashion majors pieces and i would style it and everything. sounds good, but there still needs to be an original piece. fuck fuck fuck.
anyway, for my upcoming project - i have been asked to pick an artist (or two, or three) and mimic a painting or sculpture or picture in my own modern way. PLUS a self portrait. using any medium. like i could do a spread of gauguin paintings as pictures, my way. with his influence. it's a really great idea and i'm looking forward to it. the one thing i ain't looking forward to starting tomorrow are my night classes, fashion drawing and digital photography starting at seven and ending at nine thirty... crap on sticks.
i was also thinking of shooting sos or dani in these:
something like gauguin's copy of manet's olympia is really great. or even the supremely famous original, of course, which is at the musée d'orsay, and it is so captivating.
i'm always partial to this painting.
i love modigliani. he is my mother's favorite painter as well, so that particular style has been around me my whole life. my mom is always inspired by his colors and the fluidity of his lines. could be interesting.
basically, this whole project will be similar to the photoshoot the tatler did with bea valdes on the cover as boticelli's venus. i hope all goes well.
