Love it. Love the kissing and the boots. When is this going to HH land?

*blush* I'm glad you like it. I had far too much fun writing the darn thing.

Fun is good - it shows in the work; unless it becomes self indulgent. (Yours doesn't.)

This is so cute!

I really enjoyed the description of Archie bouncing around and HH trying to get the book back. Cold fingers on the neck - excellent distraction technique -- Heee!

Thanks! Yep. I flinch every time Dad does it to me.

This was lovely , Jestana.
I agree with lamis p, the description of the "keepings off" game was very well done.
The stocking removal was well done too. So brief, but I wasn't expecting anything further after the boots, then the sensuality of just that little extra bit was quite hot.
Good quality fluff.

*blushes* Why, thank you! I didn't expect it, but this piece has quickly become a favorite of mine.

I went and did some reading in 18th century books (online). This is the story of Ganymede as told by The new pantheon: or, fabulous history of the heathen gods, goddesses, heroes, &c. by Samuel Boyse (1768), and seems fairly typical of the times: "In the shape of an Eagle... he seized the beauteous Ganymede Son of Tros, as he was hunting on Molunt Ida, and raised him to the joint Functions of his Cup-bearer and Catamite."

I also found a dialogue between Jupiter and Ganymede by Charles Cotton, 1734. It's too long to type out but it begins thus:

Come kiss me, pretty little Strager,
Now that we are got clear from Danger;
And that to please my pretty Boy
I've laid my Beak and Talons by.

Later Jupiter gets a great line: "Yes, but there is a certain Joy | In lying with a pretty boy"! Ganymede goes on to say that he kicks in his sleep, to which Jupiter replies:

Why, kick thy worst, my little Brat,
I like thee ne'er the worst for that:
'Tis better far than lying still,
But I can kiss thee there my fill.I think your Hornblower would enjoy ( ... )

*smile* Thanks for doing the research, especially since I know your OTP isn't H/A. *grin* If I had half your talent for drawing, I would do a pic of Horatio and Archie as Zeus and Ganymede. *wink* Perhaps Horatio could be a dark-haired Ganymede to Pellew's Zeus? *waggles eyebrows*

No worries :) Hornblower and Greek myth is an interest of mine. Basically, it's reading Plato's Phaedrus that gets him into bed with Pellew in the first place... and I've written a short story where Hornblower turns up at Pellew's cabin dressed as Hermes! The idea of Zeus/Ganymede is quite appealing (there's a statuette of Ganymede and the eagle in the Vatican Museums that I am rather taken with) but it's nicer, I think, if Hornblower comes* willingly rather than being snatched away :)

* No innuendo intended!

I like Greek myth, too, but I'd never really heard of Ganymede until I started reading Hornblower fanfic. *giggle* The only Plato I've read is The Republic, so I have no idea what Phaedrus is. I'll just have to look it up. *smirk* I read that story, actually. I thought it was very cute and playful. Yes, willingly is definitely better than being snatched away with no choice in the matter.
