Something that intrigues me is how people handle themselves online and their associations online. They worry about being connected to something unseemly and they worry that their professional face will end up with proverbial pie on it because of something one of their friends said.
I actually expect it.
I expect people to say something completely obnoxious and well out of my control where everyone in the world can see it and it will be associated to my name. That's how these things work. It's how the world functions and when it comes to something as uncontrollable as the internet we don't have a ton of choice in that subject.
The only solution is to avoid the online persona completely and at all costs. Do not have anything that can be traced back to you.
In this day and age this is impossible.
So, why worry? Why not realize and accept it will happen? Why not simply let it go and deal with it as it comes? I can delete things off my facebook feed. I can delete comments here. I can simply delete threads or hide them in email. Why not just use that to my fullest advantage? And why not just not talk about things here myself that I do not want associated to my real life name?
This is my solution to this whole thing.
