Was cleaning out computer when found an mp3 of a wonderful bluegrass song, Song of the Traveling Daughter, by Abigail Washburn. The lyrics given on her music website are not exactly the same as the recording I have - though there is a highly entertaining Youtube fanvid using the mp3:

Being now unfuzzed enough to find and click links, I see that Washburn actually sings in Chinese. Glad to have that straight. It *is* a lovely song, but who's that in the fanvid?

(Fuzzed? What happened?)

Characters are from Avatar:The Last Airbender - not that I've watched it, but I think the kick-ass ladies are Azula, Mai and Ty Lee of the Fire Kingdom. The only other version that I found was a live recording where the performers seemed to be having an off day D:

Washburn actually sings in Chinese

And composes, too - impressive considering she had picked up the banjo a few years prior to the recording, and studied Chinese only in college.

(Spring Break, when staff go on vacation with their kids and replacements find themselves with double the usual hours. Hence a week of exhaustion and sleep deprivation.)

Ahh, yes, Airbender. Shall watch that series one of these days.

(Oh dear. I hope things are more relaxed now. We've just come off the one-week March school holidays in LRD.)

IIRC the live-action movie has received a fair amount of flak for casting predominantly white actors, except for the villain-turned-hero, who is played by guy from Slumdog Millionaire.
