never was there a story of less woe, than this of Juliet minus her Romeo

Inspired by the previous post (Chumbawamba referencing Danny Boy)to dig up Harry Connick's version, the original of which was composed by an Englishman on the eve of World War I but has since been co-opted by Irish the world over.

On listening, was reminded that You Raise Me Up also references the above song and certain themes from Titanic (no I don't have My Heart Will Go On, but the tune should be familiar), and found this Japanese rendition by Lena Park (祈り~You Raise Me Up~) - which is the OP for an anime *extremely* loosely based on the play. It needs only be mentioned that there are flying horses, masked avengers, cross-dressers, Norse mythology references, Christopher Armalite's seiyuu, names from the Bard's other plays (who bear scant resemblance to the original characters), and good Will himself (and his mum).

O takes! O meta!

anime, crack, music
