Geo and I are back in Ohio. The goal this trip is to get the garage cleaned out. Today will be Day 4, and my goal is to finish completely.
We've rented a roll-off dumpster and it is quickly being loaded. I really missed Daddy yesterday (July 18). If he'd been here, there would be plenty of pictures of the project.
The first two days, Geo and I made a huge dent in the project. Yesterday, Li'l Bro came over to help, followed by SiL and Nephew C. The three of us (SiL, Newphew C, and I) spent the day "supervising," with Nephew C on my lap and me fanning him with one of Grandmama M's old silk fans. Nephew A kind of surprised us by showing up and putting in a really, really hard day of work, too. Nephew A is a great young man with a heart for service. (He went on a medical mission trip to Zimbabwe recently and didn't want to leave.) Later he went to pick up his brother (Nephew B), who also pitched in for a little while. (It's great watching them together.)
Daddy would have taken lots of pictures--family together, doing a family project.
A friend came by to look through Grandpa K's old fishing equipment, and was very impressed with some things he found. He and Mother are going to take the stuff to get it appraised in the fall.
Lots of old stuff that would be worth something if it weren't weather or oil damaged. But he garage is now empty.
We had a woman stop by in the evening who has an antique store. You could about see the dollar signs in her eyes, and she said a lot of people donate to her store. She said, "Where you see junk, I see potential." I told her, "No, we see potential, too. We just don't know how to get it to the right buyer." I also told her that I'd like to see my mom get a little something out of all the stuff the woman wants to take.
After the woman left, my mom came out and took a few things "off the table," so when the woman comes back to collect her assorted pickings, I'm going to have to tell her, "Where you see potential, we see memories." The stuff isn't hers until it's hers, so today's project is to sort out what we want her to take, close up the dumpster, and call the trucking company to come get the dumpster tomorrow. I also need to impress upon this lady that everything must be gone tomorrow morning. I mentioned it yesterday, but I don't know if she quite got the message.
But the garage will be cleaned out when we leave.
