I've been reviewing my Still Life stuff, and I want to weep that no one else has seen it. I want to talk about characters. I want to read fic. I want everyone to see Jensen play Max, because Max is so very different from Dean.
I want to see it! I doubt it's worth the cost and effort to put on DVD, but I wish there was something we could do to get it online (FOX website or iTunes). I wonder if there's issues with having to pay residuals or something and it's not worth it to FOX?
I don't think it's so much about residuals as that it's not of any value to them overall. It never aired on TV. It was totally shelved. The fact that they shot seven episodes of it says that the TPTB who green-lighted it liked and supported it, but apparently it got lost in a regime change of some sort. It's not in production anymore, it doesn't have a significant catalog of episodes, etc. (I've wondered if the actors/writers would even get anything if Fox did decide to put it on their site or on iTunes.)
Sometimes I wonder if all the fans of all the actor rallied, if that might get someone's attention, but I don't know. I mean, Morena Baccarin was in it, too, and she was in two very fan-popular genre shows.
I just don't know of any way to let TPTB know that they could make some easy money in downloads off of this property.
I would give a lot to see it. I've watched the Pilot several times, but then I just had to stop because there wasn't any more, and there *should* have been, and I know those episodes exist, they're just... locked away somewhere we can never see them.
Like the CW panel the year after the first Paley--we were supposed to get that footage as DVD extras--never happened. Every time I see those photos it makes me gnash my teeth. "They're making such funny faces and gestures! They're laughing! Bob's laughing! But what are they saying!? You see? So frustrated I'm reduced to interrobangs.
I just read your Still Life recaps and it was awesome. Because it wasn't shown I think it's great that we have your great writing to at least show us as much as you could. Thanks so much for undertaking that project. :-)
