Theatrical yay!

So. Once upon a time, the role I really wanted to play . . .

Was a DB on CSI. Are you kidding? Get some awesome gory make-up, and lie on a table. And if you're lucky, get a good flashback scene. I said over and over, "I'd love to be a body on CSI."

Well, things change, and I have just discovered that I have a new role that I really want to play.

A waitress. On SPN. How fun would that be?

It's never occurred to me before.

Ah, but here's what made me think of that.

I auditioned for a show yesterday . . . AND I GOT CAST! *happy dance* And I felt like I screwed up the audition, too. But I got cast! Yay! *Snoopy dance*

The role I'm playing? A New York waitress.

The play is a one act called "The Philadelphia." I am one of three cast members, and the supporting character of the show (rather than one of the leads). Not much to "do," but it's one of those character roles that I think I'm going to have fun with. One of my acting teachers in college told me that I could be a great character actress. (This will give me a chance to brush up on my NY accent. I hope I can remember how to do it.)

I'm just so freakin' thrilled that I've had a successful audition. That hasn't happened in a very long time.* Not since the move to Virginia.

So Yay! \o/

*I found out after the fact that I could have given the most amazing audition of my life, and I still wouldn't have gotten the role I wanted. It was a vanity project, and the role was cast even before auditions were held. I mean, it's one thing to cast a role before holding auditions. It's quite another to go ahead and audition the role, when it's already been cast.

acting, squee, theater, yay!
