Last month, I made reference to a recipe for cookies that my mom makes, called snowflake cookies.
just_ruth requested the recipe, and here I am, finally getting around to it, after making a batch. Considering the weather, I thought it appropriate. :-)
This is an old recipe from my Great-Aunt Ono. It is my bro's favorite.
Snowflake Cookies
1 cup butter or oleo
3 oz. cream cheese
1 cup sugar
1 egg yolk
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Cream butter, cream cheese, sugar, and egg yolk until fluffy.
Add vanilla.
Sift together flour, salt, cinnamon into butter mixture. Mix well.
(Sometimes at this point, I form into two equal size balls of dough, wrap in plastic, and freeze until I'm ready to roll out and cut into cookies.)
Preheat oven 350 degrees
Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until golden around the edge.
This recipe makes LOTS of cookies, especially, if rolled thin.
I use this recipe all year round with various kinds of cookie cutters and decorations.
