Great job. The suddenly appearing Sunday night tradition really worked as an example of things being off. She lost all that time and now it refuses to line up correctly.

Marvelous.

Thank you!

I've discovered the treasure trove of prompts past from sb-fag-ends in a well-organized spreadsheet, so I, too, am working out of sync with time.

Thanks for reading and reviewing! You're too kind. :)

And it felt so good, so right, if she could take command of time, that slippery thing, and hold on, and bend it to her will, it would almost contend to be…a piece of Heaven, right here, right now.
Oh, poor Buffy. Too used to "if it feels good it should be something bad"... ((

Honestly, I blame Angel (bet you didn't see that coming). ;) She just can't trust her attraction to another vampire after Angel, even though Spike is totally different. And there's no soul to lose should they get happy!

Poor Season 6 Buffy indeed. She really doesn't have a lot of reasons to be happy.

And Hank, and Giles, and Riley. I think Riley's contribution is really underestimated by fandom; it's not until after he leaves in that horrid way (and her mom dies) that she begins to believe she's unable to love "turning to stone".
She had thought she had problems with her concept of love and who she was attracted to in S4 but NOT that she was inherently unlovable or unable to love.

But there's always Hank's abandonment, emotionally and physically at the core of everything - "Nightmares", "Helpless". It's a huge psychic wound, only made worse with each abandonment, failed relationship, betrayal and then compounded by Joyce's death - the one source of solace and stability.

Poor Season 6 Buffy indeed. She really doesn't have a lot of reasons to be happy.

Couldn't agree more. Not to pimp my writing but I have a short fic set in the scene in "The Gift" where Buffy and Spike retrieve weapons from her house for that final show-down with Glory, and in canon Spike gets invited in and says the much quoted, "I know I'm a monster. But you treat me like a man", etc. And in my story, as I wish happened in canon, Buffy replies (a little later on, because I have Buffy quite occupied with other ways of showing her appreciation of Spike), "Monsters or men, others left while you stayed. You’re with me in this, and that’s enough."

That's what I've always wanted Canon!Buffy to acknowledge. Everyone deserts her sooner or later. Some (cough, Riley, cough) have the nerve to blame it on her, or invoke some higher purpose, some grand excuse (cough, Angel, cough). But Spike is the one who stays with her through thick and thin and plenty of abuse (well, the only exception being the little soul-getting side trip ( ... )

This is excellent work! Wow! I could definitely feel her sense of disconnection and alienation from a world of which she'd once been so completely a part.

Thank you! Season 6 was tough for me (and I think probably for everybody) to watch. So much unprocessed emotion and untreated anxieties/depression, which means a treasure trove for fanfic writers! :)

Thanks for taking the time to leave me a comment.

Thank you so much! Poor Buffy in Season 6 really just has one thing going for her: Spike's love. And who wouldn't find a taste of Heaven in Spike's arms? ;) Thanks again for the comment!
