Ahhh, finally got my presentation over with! Though, I couldn't quite tell if people were actually interested or bored crazy >< But I did get a few questions at the end, so maybe thats a good sign :)
So, I have some pictures from doing fun things around Kobe. Friday, Dave and I went out to check out some bars. One was quite....interesting. It was a R&B and Jazz themed bar, with pictures of those artists (like Michael Jackson and the guy who sings "superfreak"). The bar's logo was, for lack of better words...well I'll just post the picture for you to see... (notice they offer "tasty foods, fine drinks, good music and nice something")...hmm.
BUT, it was all good fun and the bar tender guy took our requests of Michael Jackson and the superfreak guy and spun/mixed the songs using the record player!!
The other bar we went to was really nice, and I had some of the best red wine I've had in a while there. It was pretty classy but not over the top and the bar tenders were nice. I think I'll be going back there sometime soon ;)
Here's a pic of Sannomiya at night:
Sunday I met one of my friend, Rie, and we went to an Akashi-yaki place for lunch:
Akashi-yaki is like tako-yaki but eaten in a different way. First let me explain tako-yaki: its basically a doughy ball with octopus and often green onions inside. You pour the batter into a pan that has divets shaped like half of a golf ball, so it cooks into a round shape. Usually you eat them with sauce and bonito flakes (and mayo if you like that) on top. Akashi-yaki, though, is different in that you dip it into some kind of soup and then eat it. In the picture below you can see the doughy Akashi-yaki balls and the small bowls of soup next to them. Its called Akashi-yaki because its from Akashi, a little west of Kobe.
I got to meet my friend Yuka T. the other day too! Yay! We enjoyed a Yuzu smoothie at a cafe by the station :D
Wee!
