The day J the apprentice left, both my boss and I felt a huge weight lifting off our shoulders. I worked silly hours trying to catch up a bit more, then took the Friday & Tuesday of the bank holiday off as TOIL at the boss's insistence. H started part time on Monday (Mon, Wed & Thur) & after 2 days in the office she's already getting concepts better than J did after 3 months. She's also got a reasonably hefty mail merge list sorted & updated, and got all the expenses up to date again (J hadn't found the time to do them for over a month). Everyone (me, H and boss) all feel really happy about the arrangement.
Which has lead to the boss asking me this evening if I would like to do the formal Paraplanning qualifications. This is serious stuff, IFA level 4 accreditation, and in London I would be looking at £40k a year once qualified - not that I have any intention of moving jobs until I retire because I can't physically drag myself into the office any more! The qualification costs about £10k, of which St James's Place will pay 2/3 and boss will pay the other 1/3, takes a year & is pretty hard work - boss reckons about a day a week facility time in the office, and 4-6 hours a week on top of that at home. I have a couple of months to think about it as it doesn't start until January, but I will probably go for it now we have someone I can trust to take the pressure off me.
Cats are lovely, beautiful, adorable, getting friendlier & more confident daily. However Linton caught a claw on the wallpaper a couple of weeks ago & scratched it chasing a fly, and was so fascinated by the mark that his new favourite hobby is ripping shreds off the wall behind the sofa when he is sitting on the back. Ah well, will just have to wait until he's finished the job then paint the walls rather than re-paper them!
