Pay is a bit pants at the moment, but the 10 minute drive and 3 minute walk to the office makes up for that a fair bit. Commuting costs are great too - minimal petrol for the car, and Gravesham have a "Town Centre Workers" scheme whereby local residents who also work in the town centre can get parking for £40 per month.
I need to do something about the house, as I live in fear that the rescue centre will fail me on the home check! I'm hoping to get to the rescue centre in the next couple of weeks, but I'm only going when Ann has weekend time off so she can come with me and control me when I fall in love with 8 unsuitable cats ;).
Back can only be controlled, nothing they can do to fix it I'm afraid. Bulging discs (one with a tear), facet joint arthritis and one vertebra that's decided it's going to live 25% more forward than the rest of the spine. Constant pelvis alignment issues that make the muscles in the area seize up too, and unless they find a way to add 2/3 of an inch to my leg that can't be fixed either. Nowhere near bad enough to face the risks of spinal fusion which is the only surgical option, so drugs are the only answer at present. They are going to put me on a codeine based product as well as the NSAIDs though, so that may help. Part of the inheritance from my Godmother went on a really lovely new corner sofa with recliners that's perfect for my back with support in exactly the right places, and a very good computer chair, which have both helped alot thank goodness.
So I understand about your pain, and just how exhausting it is. People who haven't been there just don't understand most of the time I find.
