*a quick post as i'm at work but bored with writing module outlines!*
today marks the 2nd full week i've been in my new flat and it's been a crazy two weeks. and this is what i've learnt so far:
- there will be strange noises to get used to, but not all strange noises signal something bad!
- delivery men will never be on time- either they ring you cause they want to come earlier (!!!) or they don't even ring you when they arrive late! and when they do, they will all complain about stairs.
- as long as you have a flatmate, even if you own the flat, house rules are still a compromise. (maybe i should think about living alone...)
- getting to know where to eat in the neighbourhood is a lot of fun
- getting to know where to shop in the neighbourhood is even more fun (especially when you live a 15 minute walk from the largest shopping centre in Europe (for the moment))
- having more than 1 tubeline to get to work/play and everywhere is a joy that cannot be measured. especially when you've been subjected to the tyranny of public transport that is in London
- it seems like there is endless crap to be bought for the flat. i've barely scratched the surface i'm sure on the amount of crap i could get but i'm going slow.
- seeing the first mortgage payment go out of your bank account gives one an indescribable feeling
and the biggest thing i've learnt- is that i'm a commitment-phobe. i'm taking a long long time to make up my mind what to do with putting up shelves or painting walls because i don't like the feeling that it's permanent! house decorating is going to be a long and painful process.
okay back to work!
