The items (books in this instance) is but a means. The true difference in imparting morality and meaning is to sit with the child and supplement the story (re knowledge in the book) with explanation and guidance. I don't think parents do enough of that these days nor do they make a conscious effort to.

yeah i do think you're partly right. cause i buy my nephews these books and i'm not around to read it to them or share it with them and have to ask my sister to do it or my parents and i'm not sure then if my nephews actually like them or not.

but at the same time i'm wondering between knowledge and morality. *sigh*
