I have to say, being here at Haskell for these three semesters have brought a lot of awareness to me about the poverty level on the reservations throughtout the united states and canada. However, even though native american reservations are so low in poverty that some of them equal the same as a third world country, the united states is doing nothing to help the people out. Due to the fact that this is america and that america being so pompus like, they will not do anything to help their people out, but other countries, even during this debt they have with other countries and themselves.

I jus wanted to say something about the whole Columbus thing. For starters Columbus never even set foot on the united states, but jus the carribean. All accusations about Columbus even coming to american or having any impact on the people who inhabited this continent are incorrect. If you ever get a chance to read the journals or watch the history channel about Columbus you will know exactly what he did and what they are not telling the american children in school.

He said himself that the inhabitants that he called savages where beyond the european thinking level. That they have rubber boots and a whole government or that type of system set up. He even made a village or landmark based on a tribal village that he stumbled apon in the carribeans because the arcitecture they had was advance and different from anything in the european cities and was far beyond the cleaniness of any city in europe. For some reason columbus is made out as a hero or a discoverer, but to native americans he's known as a murderer. When he first came here the people were welcoming, but after they seen the harshness that columbas portrayed upon their people they started to resent and turn away from what he said. At one point in time he was killing thirteen people a day to prove he had the upper hand and then we fell as a nation to Columbus' hand.

So to rant about that, jus thought it was interesting and maybe something you didn't know about! But I read what you said. . .so you don't have to bug me to read it! LOL It's tuff to know that things like that are happening here in such a rich country, isn't it?

Yes it is. And yes, I did know Columbus never set foot on the actual American continent. I just forgot to mention that...

I honestly think our country needs to stop helping out other countries and help its own citizens (especially people living on reservations and the elderly who have to choose between the mortgage payment or the healthcare bill).

Yeah, the paper upset me.
