As I promised Yetti I would, I am now going to post this blog to catch those who still have my on their friends list or read this on my recent life events. So, here goes nothin'.
I am still working at the gas station, Sunshine Food Mart... rapidly approaching a year there. I'm pretty much the main night shift guy, the owner of the store goes to me with requests/problems/etc. Speaking of, the guy that onws the store is a crazy bastard who owns many, many guns, which he keeps in his office at the store. Anyway, I'm making decent money and working a reasonable amount of hours, though I have decided that Nacogdoches is full of some of the worst customers imaginable, and after a year of dealing with them I am starting to lose patience.
I am also still living in the Upton House in Nac - some of the residents have changed, however. Instead of Max, Dru, and Dan Keesee, we now have Dan Eldridge, Rabbit, and Sam. I do miss my boys, but it is nice having Rabbit and Sam and Dan living here. This morning we all had breakfast, because all of us sans Chris have our first class at 9:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The house is still kind of in a state of transition, though, so it is a bit of a mess.
We have acquired a super-adorable kitten named George Washington, in honor of our most badass president. He and Gretchen (my mom's cat) are finally starting to get along.
Speaking of my mom, I flew out to Las Vegas last week to visit her and my brother. For some reason, the two of them are living up there, so I hadn't seen either of them in some time. However, they both seem to be doing rather well for themselves. My mom has a good job as a Senior Paralegal for a law firm, and my brother is working for one of the radio stations out there. I mostly just hung out with him, got drunk/high and went to casinos, but I got a good amount of quality time in with my mom though. I did not come out positive on the trip, but I spent less money than I had expected to, so no complaints there. I won $30 on one video poker machine at one point, and another time I turn 75 cents into 8 bucks.
But now I am back in the grind of school. This semester however is shaping up to be a lot of fun, and a lot of writing. Now that I have switched my major to the BFA program in Creative Writing, most of my classes are, go figure, Creative Writing classes. I am taking Intermediate Poetry Workshop, Intermediate Non-fiction Workshop, Elements of Craft, a class on Shakespeare, and (ugh) Spanish II. My classes are full of my friends though, so it shouuld be a good semester.
Finally, I should mention that I have been dating a girl named Alissa for two and a half months now, and I am very happy about it. It was an admittedly rough summer, as she was in Houston, but we managed to see each other enough times to survive. Buuuut, she's also an RA now that school is back in session, which also sucks. Turns out, being an RA eats up a whole lot of your time, especially when you are in a mostly freshman girls' dorm, with crazy visitation hours and limits on RAs leaving. Lame.
I suppose that is a good run-down of my life recently - the summer was largely just filled with working and taking summer classes, with an occassional road trip to New Orleans or visit from Alissa thrown in there. I'll try and update a little more frequently, but coming from me that is probably hard to believe. Anyway, until next time, adios.
