Think globally, Act locally

I did two really great things today and thought I'd share them with my e-world. The first was taking my son to a Spiral Scouts meeting. The group is an earth-friendly alternative to the traditional scouts with members and leaders of both genders. I met some great folks and really enjoyed the experience. Thank you to alifeofsundays for the inspiration.

I then attended a meeting to discuss developing a local Green Party chapter in the East County area of Pittsburg, Antioch, Oakley and Brentwood. Some of the issues of concern are the current federal administration, the war, open spaces, corporate greed, and other grassroots issues. Again I was introduced to some intelligent, well-spoken individuals with like-minded concerns. There was talk when I left of another meeting. More information should be available at DeltaGreens.org.

I just finished a book by one of my favorite authors, Charles DeLint. In it, one of the characters discusses the concept of "Think globally, act locally". I don't believe one person can change the world. But if I, one person, do my part, and others do theirs either on their own initiative or as a result of my actions, we make a group. If the group can influence others, we make a really big group!
