As I sit here watching my Dad sleep, I am realizing more and more how every situation is a learning experience and how anyone can be a potential teacher. As someone entering into the health care field, I'm truly understanding the importance of awareness, compassion and being present. You can't be thinking about dinner, your date last night or how you're doing in the hockey pool. That person in the bed or in the treatment room is real and is looking to you for support and comfort. Be aware of what you're doing and be there for them.
