On being twenty-one years old
Seems like lateley mother and her partner gnaw on my back for "not acting twenty-one years old". So I ask you, denizens of the internet, what is a twenty one year old? If I look to Bangkok, a twenty one year old is someone who goes out clubbing every night, having sex with one of her/his 6 gigs every night? Look someplace else and you see another kind of twenty one year old; a workaholic; a prostitute; someone living in their mothers basement, a closet pedophile; a drunkard; absolutely stable people who have the same interests as me, and on the flip-side, absolute losers who know nothing except the stuff that makes them happy.
She's always told me that after living on her own, she didn't want to live under her mothers roof anymore. I feel the same way, and its as if, after losing her own mother, she's grasping at me even more. Its as if she's afraid to let me go and make my own mistakes. How will I learn to fly if all she tells me is how to do it?
So tell me, what is a twenty one year old? How is a twenty one year old supposed to act? How to be? If you're over 21, tell me how you were at twenty one.
