i decide to walk the fine line
and celebrate life celebrate death i choose
to celebrate the first
I celebrate the first
For a minute or two it seemed as though the odds were stacked, but it turned out to be my best birthday yet.
I had Jess, Shaye, Sara, and Karen all over for dinner. The early part of the evening was everything I had hoped it would be. It was lovely. My only regret: not having a picture taken of me using all my limbs to touch each of them at the same time in an effort to support the fact that they were really and truly all under one roof...my roof.
It was a dream come true.
And then the night carried on and the carriage turned back into a pumpkin.
Days dragged on and by the time my birthday actually arrived, I was bored of celebrating it. I'm not one of those people who surrender an entire week or month to festivities.
Some Highlights:
My boss bought me beautiful flowers along with a card from Stanley (my dog) and a starbucks gift card.
Both parents remembered and outdid themselves
Karen bought me the most elegant pearl earrings and the new David Sedaris book. Her card made me laugh and laugh and laugh.
My employees decorated my desk in an explostion of color. They actually made me this little trinket box that is so adorable. The card was the best. Their sweet words. The 'thank yous' that will get me through the next year.
My most challenging employee, who was issued his final final final write up, insisted on buying me lunch. He said it was his way of showing gratitude for all I've done and so I know that my efforts weren't in vain.
Spending Sunday afternoon with all my family.
Having my four favorite people in all the world together just once.
Discovering a new sushi place super close and spending a cozy evening there with Boom.
The delicious buttercream cupcakes Karen made for me.
You know you've become all too sensible when you dont use your birthday wish on yourself
Loving that I confess that I fully believe in the power of birthday wishes.
I've never received more cards in all my life.
