Back in 2014, Channing did a bit Oscar campaign for his role in Foxcatcher. One of the events he attended was The Hollywood Film Awards (HFA). In 2015, Channing was there to support his The Hateful Eight castmates. Here's one of the photos from the 2014 event (BTW, his wife looked so uninterested).
Anyway, the HFA is a place where Oscar hopefuls gather together to hustle in order to get an Oscar nomination. This year, the HFA will give the New Hollywood Actor Award to Jamie Bell for his recent work in Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool. Is he still considered a new Hollywood actor? This is laughable. But nice try to get an Oscar normination. I personally think Channing did a better job in Foxcatcher, but he didn't get a normination that year.
In other news, 20th Century Fox is casting speaking roles for Gambit now. So I think this time they really will start to do it soon. One character desciption caught my eyes:
MARIYA - Female, Causcasian, mid 20s - early 30s. Must be 5’11’+. Tall, stunning and willowy, a Parisian glamour girl. Must speak fluent French or do a perfect French accent. ROLE REQUIRES SEQUEL OPTIONS.
MARIYA is supposed to be a code name for the leading female character Bella Donna Boudreaux. But why does the actress have to be at least 5'11"? Channing is only 6'1". Here is Gambit and Bella from X-Men Origins: Gambit comics.
