Name of the movie: Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool (I bet they will change the title when the movie is released)
Source: Based on the memoir by British actor Peter Turner and follows the playful but passionate relationship between Turner and the eccentric Academy Award-winning actress Gloria Grahame. What starts as a vibrant affair between a legendary femme fatale and her young lover grows into a deeper relationship.
I searched for Gloria Grahame. These are what I've learned.
(1) She was obsessed with plastic surgeries.
(2) She married four times. Two of her husbands were a father-and-son duo and she had children with both of them.
(3) The father found out her affair with the son when the son was thirteen.
(4) She won Oscar once in the supporting actress category.
I tried to find out information about Peter Turner, but I couldn't find much. I guess he is not that famous. Here is a photo of him on the Facebook page of his book with the same title. He is the guy in the middle. Grahame is the woman on the left.
More info about the book.
On 29 September 1981, Peter Turner received a phone call that would change his life. His former lover, Hollywood actress Gloria Grahame, had collapsed in a Lancaster hotel and was refusing medical attention. He had no choice but to take her into his chaotic and often eccentric family's home in Liverpool.
Liverpool born and bred, Turner had first set eyes on Grahame when he was a young actor, living in London. Best known for her portrayal of irresistible femme fatales in films such as The Big Heat, Oklahoma and The Bad and the Beautiful, for which she won an Oscar, Grahame electrified audiences with her steely expressions and heavy lidded eyes and the heroines she bought to life were often dark and dangerous. Turner and Grahame became firm friends and remained so ever after their love affair had ended. And it was to him she turned in her final hour of need.
Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool is an affectionate, moving and wryly humorous memoir of friendship, love and stardom.
Gloria Grahame died at the age of 57. Annette Bening is about the same age as Grahame when she died. But Jamie is better looking that Turner. The movie will start filming on June 27, 2016.
