I was wondering where was Channing's new magazine cover since Jupiter Ascending will arrive at local theatres in 3 days, and here it is:
The cover is a three-panel foldout,
the other people who did not really make to the cover include a lot of Brits, and the very meh Miles Teller (I don't like him very much because of this
interview. He did not sound very grateful and later he had to do some
damage control. Well, he is still young, but it is in a moment like this you know who probably cannot become a real star.)
Anyway, Jupiter Ascending had its premiere in LA last night. Mila was the first to arrive. Her baby daddy Ashton Kutcher was there to support her, but didn't walk the red carpet. Eddie Redmayne and Sean Bean also arrived solo. Channing and his wife arrived late
, and D1 seemed to enjoy the red carpet
a little too much.
I always think Channing can have chemistry with any living creature. Look at this, so adorable, not unlike the ones he did
with Jamie in 2011 or any photo he did with his wife. Anyway, my point is: there is no need to read into too much from a photo.
Also reviews are out, some media, such as Variety has a unhealthy negative attitude towards this movie from the beginning. A critics from Forbe summarized it well:
I find much of the advance “Ooooh… (Insert media-friendly star’s) movie is going to bomb!” muck-racking distasteful, both in terms of what amounts to rooting for failure for the sake of click-bait headlines and in terms of establishing a negative narrative right from the start.
I witnessed a lot of negativity towards JA in the past. I wonder what would these people gain if Jupiter Ascending is a flop. Fortunately, JA will be released around the world almost simultaneously this week, with the exception of major markets like Australia and New Zealand (2/19), China (3/5) and Japan (3/28). There are good reviews as well. Some praised the visual and set pieces, and some called the movie a fun ride. I am going to watch this on Thursday. I think I will like it.
Also I binge watched TURN over the weekend. I only watched scenes with Jamie Bell, and I found the show quite boring. For one, I don't have anyone to root for on this show. I guess this has something to do with the Revolutionary War. To me, a non-American, there were no obvious heroes and villains. Also unlike other costume drama, there are no over-the-top action or sex scenes. But I guess Season 1 did enough business so it was renewed. It seems they just wrapped up with filming for Season 2. The new season will be back in April.
While watching TURN, I constantly thought about how can I make an Eagle AU. Then I thought of The Hateful Eight. It was set in an era post-Civil War, so close enough?
Update: look which trailer is coming
