Fearless Actor , Smart Business Man and Eternal Student

Channing Tatum always give great interviews, his latest GQ is a good one too. This time he gave away a lot of new stuff. Check the complete interview here.

I like these parts:

When being asked about his sex slave role in This is the End, Channing said:

"I get one shot at life, and I can say that I've lived a crazy one, and I've pushed the limit almost at every turn, and I'm super proud of that."

Jonah Hill pointed out, "you have someone that is beloved by mainstream America playing the most degrading, insane part in an insane film. When you have a major movie star who really doesn't give a shit about their image and is willing to just do ballsy, creative things, I think people eat it up."

Channing is a self-made business man. Matthew McConaughey said this about him. "He's a hustler. He won't pick your pocket, but he knows where your wallet is." Channing responded by saying "It's probably one of the cooler, cooler things that anyone's ever said about anyone. But I'm sure he's heard that more than likely about himself from someone else." Channing also denied he made 40M from Magic Mike. He said "I wouldn't say a lot. That's why we're making another one. If I had $40 million, I don't know if I'd be making another one. I don't know if I'd be working as hard as I am. And that's the God's honest truth. I don't like to be away from my friends and family that much."

He also gave an excellent response after he learnt that Fappy also means "prone to masturbation". He said: "Amazing! That is the best thing I've ever heard. I'm that as well. If I didn't have such a beautiful wife, that would have been doubly right."

When reflecting on his teenager stripper years, he honestly admitted: "I'm lucky-I don't have a drug addiction, I didn't get anyone pregnant. I probably got really lucky."

From July 2012 to December 2013, he filmed 4 movies in a row. Channing said: "in hindsight, what I've come out of the woods with is, yeah, you can do four movies back-to-back, but I don't know if I gave everything to each one as much as I should have. It was a really, really beautiful experience all the way around, but if I had to do it over again, I would have done things different-I haven't ever said that about my career. But I'm proud of every one of the movies."

I think he should be. Vanity Fair's Richard Lawson wrote this yesterday:

Channing Tatum may soon be an Oscar nominee, thanks to Foxcatcher, our favorite film of Cannes so far. Steve Carell’s transition from funnyman to movie villain is the talk of festival, but Channing Tatum is the one to really watch in Bennett Miller’s Foxcatcher.

Lainey Lui wrote: Channing will likely dominate at the summer box office [with 22 Jump Street] and then move into the fall with a prestigious, legitimate Oscar contender [Foxcatcher]. You’ll note, with Megan Ellison behind Foxcatcher, it’s certainly backed by power and influence. And if Jupiter Ascending does well? It doesn’t have to, not where he’s concerned, but that would be a solid bonus. You thought 2012 was good for him with The Vow, 21 Jump Street, and Magic Mike all coming in the same period? At the end of 2014 we might be looking back at that as a warm up.

Steven Soderbergh told GQ: "I took him seriously from the get-go, and doing so has been great for my career and great for my life. You know, Channing's viewed differently today than he was five years ago, and the way people think of him now, I thought of him the minute he was in the room working with me. I went, Okay, this guy's on the list now."

Finally, the writer of the GQ interview summarized:

[Channing Tatum] is the eternal student eager to learn from those who know more-and it is the one that has brought him great triumphs. And even if it hides the fact that he might also have lucked into a heap of talent somewhere along the way, it's the approach most likely to drive his life and career upward and onward.

Speaking of the photoshoot. I am not a big fan of the cover, but I love these ones.

And you know Channing is a dog person.
