First, Jamie Bell will become a dad too. Instead of releasing the news through a more traditional channel (e.g. a publicist), ERM chose to use twitter to announce the news. For me, I want Jamie and Chan's children to have a play date.
Now Channing Movie News Roundup
1. Side Effects
This R-rated movie will be released in North America on Feb. 8. A shorter and tighter trailer and a few movie stills were released a few days ago. It is obvious that the marketing team of Open Road films shifted the focus to Channing because of his current popularity. I am not sure if this will backfire when Chan's fans find out he only plays a supporting role. On another note, this movie was accepted by Berlin International Film Festival as one of their competition titles. I think this is an evidence that this movie will be better than Haywire, which only got an out-of-competition screening last year at the same event. Interestingly, Jamie Bell's wife also has a movie being selected for competition this year. So will Jamie accompany ERW to Berlin? Will Channing meet up with Jamie at the festival? Channing is really busy these days, maybe he will only stay in Berlin for the international premiere of Side Effects.
2. G. I. Joe: Retaliation
According to
Crave Online, the producer of this movie said Channing only did about 4-5 hour reshoot. Therefore don't expect that he will have more screen time than he used to have. Also there will be a 4-min footage of G. I. Joe: Retaliation being shown before the movie Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters. One source says the movie will have its world premiere in London next month and Channing is expected to attend the event. Since he probably will start to shoot Jupiter Ascending over there in February, I am glad he can be there. Speaking of the movie, if there is not much Channing, I won't see it in 3D and I won't even want to pay for the full price. There is always Tuesday discount.
3. 21 Jump Street 2
According to Dave Franco, his character from the first movie may come back. We shall see. I am not particularly invested in his character.
