Channing's Five Upcoming Films + Some Jamie News
2012 is a good year for Channing, and he has more exciting films lined up for him. We will see him playing a criminal with a troubled wife, a space bounty hunter, a secret service agent who protects the President and an Olympic wrestler in the next few years.
In April, he started to film The Bitter Pill with director Steven Soderbergh. The film is to be released in Feb. 2013. The main characters of this film are played by Rooney Mara and Jude Law. In a recent interview, Channing revealed there will be hot scenes during the end credits. Let's hope that's between Chan and Jude. LOL!
Also Channing was cast in Jupiter Descending, a project by The Matrix creators - Wachowski siblings. The Wachowskis haven't done much since The Matrix Trilogy, but hey, at least we can hope for some exciting actions. The plot itself sounds like Cinderella meets the Huntsman ;p
A recent Russian immigrant - played by actual Ukrainian immigrant Mila Kunis - who is busily scrubbing toilets for a living. Unbeknownst to her, she actually possesses the same perfect genetic makeup as the Queen of the Universe and is therefore a threat to her otherwise immortal rule.
The Queen of the Universe is apparently none too happy about Kunis’ character’s similar genetic structure, so she sends an evolved bounty hunter-played by Tatum-to get rid of the threat. As one might expect, the bounty hunter ends up falling in love with his target, and the two encounter a world of trouble as the Queen and her like take great issue with said bounty hunter’s feelings
There is also a rumor that Chan's good friend Joseph Gordon-Levitt was offered a role in this movie. If he accepts it, it will be the FIFTH time that Chan and Joe work together.
The third project is called White House Down. It will be like a Die Hard movie but happens in White House. This movie will be produced by Channing's own production company - Iron Horse Entertainment. Aside from Channing, Oscar winner Jamie Foxx is negotiating to play the President. Maggie Gyllenhaal is also on board. I recently got a copy of the script (PM me if you're interested), but I haven't got the time to read it. Hope it's an interesting story. I like the idea of Channing playing a single father in this movie.
Channing has also been cast in Moneyball director Bennett Miller's passion project - Foxcatcher. He will play the new Hulk - Mark Ruffalo's brother, an Olympic wrestler. The movie is based on the real story of John du Pont, who suffered from paranoid schizophrenia and killed Olympic wrestler David Schult (to be played by Ruffalo). It looks like a serious drama.
Lastly, the troubled G. I. Joe Retaliation. It was pushed back to a March 2013 release. Although Paramount Pictures said the delay was because of the last-minute decision of converting the movie to 3D, rumor has it that they want to reshoot the movie and add more Channing scenes. I am not against it. However, it's a bad sign for G. I. Joe Retaliation. PS, in September 2013, Channing is supposed to begin to work on 21 Jump Street sequal.
These days, there are not much Jamie news. Judging from his tweets, after finishing filming his parts in Snowpiercer. He flew down and under to New Zealand and is doing some pre-production work for the next Tintin movie. Earlier this year, Jamie did Filth with James McAvoy. Recently, there is also a Prada AD Campaign photo of him with Gary Oldman and others. I don't think the clothes he is wearing in this photo looks good on him.
Now a little bit more info about Jamie's thriller movie - Snowpiercer. The movie is about a train full of travelers struggle to coexist in a world covered by ice and snow. It's a post apocalyptic story. The film's leading man is Chris Evans. The cast also includes Oscar winners Tilda Swinton and Octavia Spencer. Judging from tweets, Jamie and Octavia got along pretty well. Interestingly, Octavia attended the premiere of Haywire, which Channing costars. And recently she tweeted
