I always don't like Merlin in ep. 2x09. But I dislike him more after I get Merlin Official Annual 2011. Here is one paragraph from the book.

This was a really brash, spur of the moment thing for Merlin, too. All of the sudden he thinks it would be grand to run off with this girl and live a new life. It's not the kind of situation where he would inform others of his decision. He's essentially running away.
At this point, both Arthur and Merlin are still immature, which I don't think is a terrible choice. It's realistic, although I do hope it starts changing this season.

Hmm... but he doesn't have to tell Arthur anything about Freya. It's always good to give a notice before leaving a job. LOL!
Anyway, I want to say Merlin abandoning his destiny like that in ep. 2x09 is very OOC to me.

It always seemed to me that Merlin hasn't come to terms with his destiny. He certainly wasn't thrilled in the beginning that it involved Arthur. XD It probably was a little OOC, but I guess to me personally it wasn't over-the-top OOC.

Speaking of guard, how did Merlin carry Freya's body out of
Camelot? And why did Merlin have to steal food from Arthur in front of him? Is it easier to smuggle food from the kitchen? Oh yeah, then we cannot see the A/M banter. I lose my faith in the writers when they write shits like these.
