Best Merlin Book Ever

May 12, 2010 18:00

I got the book Merlin: Arthur and the Unicorn and I didn't expect that I would love it so much.

Why is it the best Merlin book?

1. Good price. This is a very small book (19.4 x 12.4 x 0.6 cm), only 40 pages.  I pre-ordered it from BookDepository for 2.89 USD (free international shipping)

2. The texts. This book is quite different from Merlin novels. Merlin novels stay true to the script of the aired episodes. But this book is more... creative. I will give you a few examples. Remember when Arthur drank the sleeping potion, Anhora then babbled about "pure of heart" blah blah blah... But in this book it was changed to

"A unicorn has only love in its heart. The killer of a unicorn must find love in his heart, too. Arthur wanted to give his life for you, Merlin. He has love in his heart. It's the end of the curse."

The episode ended when they returned the unicorn's horn to the forest. This book has an extended scene.

Merlin and Arthur heard Anhora, His words came from the trees. "Arthur, you found love in your heart. Now the unicorn can live again."

Can it be more slashier?

3. There're a lot of pictures in this book. 4-5 are new to me, including one BTS photo. In this photo, on one side, someone was trying to hold the "unicorn" still, on the other side, Bradley and Colin were chatting happily in a corner. How lovely! There're also short interviews with Bradley and Colin.

My only complain is that I hope this book is larger in size. Here are a few photos I scanned from the book.

PS, this book has an audio pack version, but it is temporarily out of stock. A sample of the audio book can be listened to here. Sample pages (PDF) can be downloaded from here.
