Platinum Pair

When Yagyuu got home from his classes for the day and say his boyfriend’s shoes sitting in the entry way, the Gentleman couldn’t stop from smiling to himself. Nioh had been planning to do quite a few errands that day and hadn’t known if he would be the first to get home or not. Setting his book bag down near the shoe area, Yagyuu proceeded into the living room where he figured he would find his white haired lover waiting for him along with their two cats. Coming up behind the couch, he could see Sudoku and Mr. Bond lying quite comfortably on top of something that was only a bit shorter than the back of the couch itself. Walking around to see what this mysterious cat perch was, Yagyuu was surprised to see a mound of blankets that took up most of the couch’s length.
“Masaharu?” Yagyuu called out questioningly as his eyebrows furrowed slightly in curiosity. In response, the quilted blob began to move, and both cats voiced complaints at being dislodged from their roosts by the movement.
Shifting the blankets around him to make a hole big enough for his face, Nioh looked up at his lover with a pouting glare. “What?”
Kneeling on the floor in front of the couch and peeling more of the blankets away to get a better look at the Trickster, Yagyuu tried to get the other man to talk. “What’s going on? It seems rather warm for this many blankets, are you feeling well?” Once he could see more of Nioh’s face, Yagyuu noticed the tear tracks trailing down both of Nioh’s cheeks.
“It’s been a fucking shitty day but I ain’t sick.” Nioh made no move to help Yagyuu untangle the blankets and quilts.
Once he had gotten down to the last blanket, Yagyuu let Nioh keep the yellow and black crocheted piece as he moved to sit on the couch and pull his lover onto his lap. “Why don’t you tell me about it, maybe I can help somehow?”
Heaving a sigh as he curled into Yagyuu’s chest, Nioh played with his partner’s tie absently as he spoke. “Well when I went to leave for my interview I got in the car and just as I was about to pull away noticed that someone had busted the side view mirror on the driver’s side so after the interview I had to go get that fixed. And I didn’t get hired on the spot if you’re wondering. They had a few more interviews to do and since they had a stack of background release forms, they won’t be hiring anyone until the background checks all come back. Then I went to see my mom because she wanted some company while she ran her errands today so we took her car. Thankfully her first stop was close to the house because she had a flat tire so I had to walk back to her place to get my car to meet her at the tire shop so we could go eat. Her food wasn’t really warm but it was food and we were starving. So then we went and got her car and dropped mine off at her place while we did the rest of her errands. Afterward I came home and called the financial aid office at the university to see when they’ll start mailing out student loan checks since that’s the only way I can afford school and the bitch I talked to said they won’t start mailing checks until next week and it could take up to six weeks. If it takes that long we’ll have to cancel our trip to Osaka because some of that money was going to pay for our hotel room while we’re there for the weekend. Also, if it takes that long I won’t be able to get my textbooks which means I will be behind in all of my classes right from the get go. So I still don’t have a new job and my last paycheck from my last job comes Friday but that’ll have to last to cover my part of the bills for next month so there goes having any fun money for us right now. Needless to say I’ve been a bit stressed so after that phone call I just curled up in a ball and cried because life really kinda sucks today.”
Cuddling his upset lover, Yagyuu tentatively offered up his own good news. “So would this be a bad time to mention that I got that internship I’ve been trying for which is actually a paying position?”
“You did? That’s great Hiroshi! I’m proud of you.” Nioh smiled a bit and pressed his lips to Yagyuu’s in a soft kiss.
Kissing Nioh again, a bit deeper this time, Yagyuu smiled as they parted. “Thanks. I know it’s easier said than done but try to relax and not borrow any trouble. I only have my morning class tomorrow and the internship doesn’t start until Monday so I can help you revise your resume and think of more places to turn it in at tomorrow afternoon if you want. And we’ll figure something out for your books and our trip; things will work themselves out Masaharu.”
Sighing again as he settled his head in the crook of Yagyuu’s neck, Nioh did his best to let the tension leave his body. “Thanks Hiro. You won’t think any less of me if I cry more from stress will you?”
“Of course not Masaharu, I love you.”
“Yeah, I love you too Hiro.”
