Characters: Fred and Luke
Content: Luke's first night with her went over well. Now let's try night two.
Fred woke up the next day, laying in Luke's embrace. She didn't mind it; actually she liked it. She liked being close to someone, but this couldn't work. He didn't know about her, and she was just helping him. Fred was sure he didn't like her like that. This was just kindness, right?
Fred went on with her day. She still had to translate and catalog, and someone had to answer the phones. It was a long day, but Fred checked up on Luke. She even brought him some homemade soup.
But horror struck around eight o'clock that night. A pack of demons were attacking a homeless shelter. Fred and Gunn were the only ones around, so she had to go.
They were horrible creatures, almost ten feet tall with huge horns. They smelled like death and looked even worse. But they weren't fast. It took a little over twenty minutes to slay them, but neither Fred nor Gunn were uninjured. Gunn had a few deep gashes while Fred's arm was popped out of place and deep wounds on her stomach and ribs. Her leg was pretty bruised as well.
Gunn insisted on taking her to the hospital, but he finally let her go when she said she had someone to look after her at the hotel. He didn't seem pleased since their own relationship ended only a few months before. However he dropped her off with a promise to check up on her.
Fred managed to hobble steadily from Gunn's truck to her room, though she took the elevator. She opened the door, utterly exhausted.
