Health Care

So, Catie had her MRI, and everything looks fine.  Again.

Catie had her tumor removed on 3/31.  According to our neurosurgen, she should have MRIs to check for healing/regrowth every three months for the first year.  She had one on 6/24, and one on 9/28 (rescheduled from 9/23 due to hives).

But now the hospital scheduled her next MRI for 1/7/10.

One week, big deal, right?

Well yes.  It is.  Once the new year hits, I have to pay deductable/coinsurance for the MRIs again (having hit my annual out-of-pocket limit with the surgery.  Imagine that).  When I set up my Health Saving Account back in May, I assumed I'd have to cover one (3-31-10) MRI.  Now, because of a week later, I may have to cover two MRIs.

MRI's ain't cheap.  My insurance company knows that.  I know that.  But why is my schedule pused back a week, pushing me out of my 2009 expense year.  Funny insurance tricks?  End of year hospital scheduling?  Heck, there's no doctor needed for the MRI (ok, well, an ansthesiologist to knock her out counts, I guess).  I will bring her in 9am Christmas Day if I have to, just to get this done in December, and not January. Heck, we live 10 Minutes from the U, give us the 6 hour warning to stop feeding her, and we can bring her in on call.  You were able to reschedule from a Wednesday to a Monday on short notice, why would this be harder to reschedule?
