How I know eating at my school's cafeteria is probably a health hazard

There is a bright, glowing green apple on my desk. This apple is firm. If you imagine a perfect granny smith apple in your head, that's probably identical to the apple on my desk.

I, however, have decided eating this apple would probably be a terrible idea. This apple has been on my desk since September. If you looked at it right now, you would probably mistake it for an apple that's been fresh-plucked off the tree.

I got this lone apple two months ago from my school cafeteria.

And even though that's a long time to not have a piece of fruit go bad, there was an apple last year that stuck around for an entire semester without ever getting so much as a hint of brown or smushiness. The only reason that one's not around anymore is because the year ended.. and I'm not taking this mutant fruit all the way back to Winter Park.

I was already hesitant of our cafeteria food.. but this takes it to a new level.
