No one is sure how he does it, but a week before the Superbowl Cameron struts in with two tickets. No one is quite sure how he managed to get his hands on a ticket let alone two, but Sam overhears something about security clearance and being Cameron-fucking-Mitchell.
He corners her in the lab with a "Whatdeya say Sammy?" and flashes the tickets under her nose. "You in?" he asks with a low drawl and that look.
That look, the look that makes her forget he called her Sammy. The look he's been giving her lately after close calls and before he says goodnight. A look that's found her alone and in bed at the end of the day, one hand gripping at her sheets and the other between her legs. She lies, says she promised Vala and Teal'c she'd watch it with them on the base, and slips away before he has a chance to say anything else.
A few days later he gets grazed by a piece of buckshot (or at least the inhabitants of P9X 674's equivalent) on a recon. He asks her again while she applies a field dressing to his leg. She doesn't answer just orders him to get to the gate so they could get the hell out of there. He just nods giving her a quick smile, 'like maybe the world won't end today', and she yells at him to move while she returns cover fire.
When they're all through the gate and Dr.Lam has taken a good look at his leg, he's still smiling. He's smiling at her and she frowns in response before heading to be debriefed. He needs six stitches and painkillers to be good as new. But not really because he's still smiling, that same damn smile, and she still frowning (that same frown) when he says good bye.
She doesn't get through the game. She watches up to half time with Teal'c and Vala on the base before going home. She lies, again, and says she's too tired to stay until the end. She lies because all she can think about is Cameron-fucking-Mitchell and that goddamn look. Vala is more interested in whether her team is about to cover the spread and Teal'c says goodnight quietly before turning back to the game. She's glad they don't protest because she feels less guilty about wanting to curl up in bed and think about Cam Mitchell.
Lying in bed she imagines it's his hands on her body. He's mapping it, counting it, marking yard lines. With his hands, lips, teeth and tongue he makes laterals, blitzes and first downs across her belly, breasts and thighs. He's playing offense, defense and special teams; while she's the field and the ball and the other team.
He stops, one hand curling at the curve of her breast and the other resting on her thigh. She can feel his thumb against her femoral artery, his heartbeat in rhythm with her own. He's teasing her, forcing her to look at him. Beg him.
She begs, low and desperate and ohmygodsoclose, "fuck Cam," and she reaches a hand between them. She's trying to force him to move faster, she wants him to fuck her hard and fast against the bed until they can't breathe. Except he catches her stray hand working down his body and pushes it above her head. His other hand traces up her ribs and across her breast, finger tips coasting against her nipple. She inhales sharply and by then her wrists are pinned together. She begs again, her throat making a tiny noise she doesn't even want to classify and he slides into her slowly. Eyes shut she rolls her hips against his. Their pace slow and even and careful.
Only he's still teasing her with slow thrusts. His lips making silent words and whispers into her skin, "Open your eyes Samantha." And she does, because this is what they both want, what they both need.
She has no trouble looking at him the next day, she never has. Last night hadn't been the first time she imagined him in place of her hand, and it certainly won't be the last. But it helps that he's exhausted and slightly hungover and that Landry is bitching about the Ori and the end of the world. It helps because no one notices when she catches Cam's eye and smiles at him, like maybe today the world won't end on them. When he returns her smile, with that smile, she decides she wouldn't care if it did.
