Third aisle, 2nd row from the top, the astronomy section.
Anna checked her reflection in the bathroom mirror.
She knew who he was. He was always there on Wednesdays, looking up books on the solar system and scribbling down distinctive details passionately. Anna would look on with curious eyes and manage to never finish her notes on the American Civil War. He left after an hour or so before taking the bus route that travelled past Bondi Beach. She was always generally observant with these things. She knew he played in a quartet, knew he liked having beef sandwiches for lunch and saw the way his eyes sparkled with delight whenever a plane would pass by overhead in the sky.
Anna took out her lipstick and applied more onto her bottom lip. She also knew that she was too normal, too plain to be noticed by him. When he called out to her a minute ago, her heart thumped in quantum leaps. But of course, he mistook her for someone else.
She understood. She was not glamorous and did not exude any nuances of charm like so many other girls in her grade. She was clumsy, would often forget things and had a slight obsession with crème brulees and Japanese mochi.
But of course he would not notice her. She gave up on the fact a long time ago. She forced herself to avoid Wednesday afternoons in the library, tried with considerable difficulty to avoid seeking out a certain fair-haired boy when lining up for lunch and blocked out the sound of passing aeroplanes by turning up the volume on her Mp3.

Oh the things I used to dream up as a kid -_-
The funny thing is that in all my stories the heroine always wins love.
I still haven't won. However much Nat tells me otherwise, I think these are the cruelties of life. I've been so lucky in other areas of my life. There must be an area I can't be lucky in right? There must be some give and take.
Oh well, I'll just be patient I guess.
And wait.
