As it turns out, I would rather suffer faeries than fools.

Unfortunately right now I am suffering both.

[private to Lestat]
Apparently, all my warnings and advice fell on deaf ears. Apparently your ego and appetites eclipse your common sense by a hundredfold. Now those two bitches are out for vampire blood again, and there is absolutely no guarantee ( Read more... )

I'll be right there, barring fairy shenanigans.

[Armand hurried up to the deck, and then to the door of the CES, looking around, up and all around for Dracula. He's carrying a large book, but not to read. A fairy comes up, seeming to want to look at his hair, or his hair ribbon or something. Its intention isn't very clear, but as soon as Armand sees it he squeaks and swings the heavy book at it.]

Don't do that!

[A pause.]

Dracula! Count? I'm here.

Thank you Armand. [The voice came from above. Dracula stepped out into space and glided down, landing nearby.]

I'm very angry and I would rather deal with it somewhere where I am not around the others.

[Armand startled just a bit, again, afraid a fairy had found him. Then he breathed in relief and lowered his book.]

Better to take it in there than suffer more for it. Do you need me to wait for you?

I wonder if the CES is safe from these annoying little winged people.

No, you need not wait here. It is chilly and besides, something may steal your book to play in.

The faeries are a minor nuisance compared to much that is going on, and will be gone in a few days. I do not mind either way. After that conversation with Lestat and his stirring up those damned genocidal Hunters, I need some time.

[Armand just flinches at that news.]

So you spoke to Lestat as well. I should have realized. I am not surprised that he is unhappy with his options here, but I wish he'd managed to keep from killing someone. Few people react well to that, hunters or not.

Happy hunting in there.

[He waves his watch at the CES door so it opens.]

If you kill something small, like a rabbit or small game bird, let me know, or rather bring it to me. Ne need to go out of your way to find one though.

Lestat and I get on on a basic level, but...he did not take my warnings against hunting here seriously. That bothers me. I have worked very hard to avoid any such eventuality at my own hands, and to defy the stereotypes laid on me by others. Now...I feel both jealousy and guilt. More guilt.

[A brief grin breaks through.] I shall take a pheasant for your supper then.

[Armand put a hand over his mouth. He didn't want Dracula to think he was laughing at him.] It wasn't a demand. And you are not responsible for his actions. You've acted heroically to resist your killing instincts. That is your doing, and you did try to warn him.

As did I.

I don't feel guilty, but strangely sorry for him.

If you have any luck with the game I suppose I shall see you later. À bientôt! [He gave a wave with one hand, and then looked around for more fairies to block his departure.]

It's going to be a difficult first few months for him.

[He stepped through the door.] Expect that I will. I make my own luck in such matters!
