So today was the Sophomore Barbie Kew, fairly boring overall, but as of a week ago we weren't even going to have it. So I'm inclined to say that it was a lack of preparation time on our class officers' part.
I found out that, regardless of how fun volleyball is to play barefoot in the grass, I still suck at it. =D
I also discovered that the sandals I had brought to change into...give me blisters. So after about five minutes of BBQ-glee, I ditched them and left them with my backpack and uniform. Shoe-less and fancy free, I discovered that the track surface gets pretty hot, that hurdles are not fun to jump barefoot (unless they're on the grass) and that tumbling with your shoes off is quite fun on a grassy surface.
Because everything else was being dominated by those more popular than us (Jock guys were playing wiffle ball in the middle of the football field, the sport-oriented girls were playing a different game of wiffle ball near the consession stand end of the football field, what I suppose could be refered to as the "punk scene" of the Sophomore class was playing volleyball, and a smattering of guys were playing around with a soccer ball) we *myself, Chelsea, Angela, Heather and Bis* went to the track shed end of the football field, set up two hurdles, and Chelsea, along with myself, taught Angela how to jump hurdles. 'Twas a fun experience indeed. We found out that Chelsea can jump over the hurdles when they're on the highest notch, four inches higher than the men's 110, I believe. As for myself, I can jump men's 330 height, woo! Also discovered in today's escapades: Joe has awesome hurdling form...and might just have to be persuaded to do track next year.
However, today just wasn't my day to walk around barefoot. Not only did I step in gum at the Bowl, which was followed by contorting myself to wash it off in the consession stand sink, but when I got home I stepped on a box that happened to have a sharp, pointy staple sticking out of it, and got a staple in the foot. Glee indeed!!
And now...Dante and his escapades in Hell await me...
