...I was at my 6th string camp - I always hesitate before heading to Ulverstone on the day the camp starts, but by the end of the week I am so glad I went. This week was just fantastic. I really truly love to play violin - I haven't for years now - if ever. The conductor is an absolute hoot, and I could go on for ages.
Chamber music - a trio of two violins and a mandolin. A MANDOLIN. Very cool! We had a ball playing celtic and Irish jigs and other stuff. There was another slow, gorgeous piece with a name we couldn't pronounce, which an Irish guy kindly translated for us - it meant 'Give me your hand'. Beautiful.
And orchestra pieces. We all played better at the concert than ever I think. Some of the peces had moments that made you want to...something - I don't know the word. Die? Turn inside out? Something like that.
Swam at the beach. In the sea, with the seaweed and the salt even. I have grown to hate sand but the last two days...I felt like a kid, building sandcastles (well, the two towers actually, according to a young girl with an impressive knowledge of - or obsession with - The Lord of the Rings) and having sand fights and being painted with wet sand. Generally getting very dirty!
And the food was great. The staff reckon that their aim is to make sure everyone goes home one kilo heavier. They succeeded 200% with me and that is a bit scary!
So anyway, busy, exhausting, but excellent week!
