Oh, no, I didn't mean to come across as over-critical. I think your story is really excellent and I'm definitely looking forward to the upcoming chapters. I'm intrigued by the plot, I'm finding it just what I want to read, and I'm generally finding it a pleasant, unexpected surprise that should be garnering tons of attention from the community.
The thing about the summary is that it was so different from the other summaries on the community, which I was parodying kind of unkindly. I was so startled and pleased by it that I felt suspicious - like, it was kind of an anomaly, and I hadn't seen your name before, so it sounded too good to be true. House_wilson is a great community, but there haven't been long fics lately, and complicated, involved story arcs are gradually giving way to shorter squee-age fics that are 'slash if you squint.' These have their merits, but they're not my favorite, they're usually too short for the author to really hit their stride, and they don't invest time in a beta or a proofread, and then everybody loses. I'm just getting sick of that. I love to see authors invested and engaged in their fics. So I got that you were definitely invested and engaged in this story, and at first I got excited, but then I thought, "No, don't read it, you don't want to be disappointed - go back to it later when it's finished and maybe you'll like it then." But I tried it anyway and I'm excited about it.
Your summary isn't condescending, it's really nice. A little long, but really nice. And you have every right to be proud of your story.
This comment didn't make any sense but I'm late for class.
Okay. Thanks for the clarification. You had me worried that I had unintentionally insulted potential readers by coming across as condescending, but I think I understand what you are saying. I too love a good long, involved fic...but I am leery of WIP because too often they get dropped somewhere in the middle and never resurrected. That is one reason I made it clear to readers that THE ORACLE *is* a completed piece, and only posted in drabs because of the requirements of LJ.
I hope very much this continues to hold your interest.
