Fandom: Fits and Rants and Wanks and Bits and Bobs
FANDOM: HOW I LOVE/HATE THEE - DISCUSSION STICKY POST
Every now and then, some aspect of fandom(and fanfic in particular) gets me all emotionally twisted, and I have this urge to either rant in annoyance or coo in pleasure. Unfortunately, real life provides me with few outlets to openly discuss my passion. Aside from my sister,(who likely gets tired of listening to me blather on about the same things over and over) my family is rather clueless about the whole, “I write fan fiction” thing, and really are not that interested in discussing aspects of fandom. They love me dearly, but just don’t get why meeting Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner was like a major event in my life. My co-workers have no idea I write fanfic and think the whole fandom thing is endearingly eccentric but basically unfathomable. So that leaves me feeling a constipated on occasion. It is not as if there is some “fandom” hotline you can call when you need to discuss why an Uhura and Spock romance is just so wrong in your view, or sympathize with the anger you feel over the Merlin/Arthur bromance going from a very promising first season start to a total reset thereafter.
So, after the latest round of pacing in front of the computer while muttering to myself, I have finally decided that I should just include a “discussion” post on my LJ. Anyone who is interested can read my musings and comment, and the rest can stick to the fic and ignore my occasional outbursts. That being said, readers need to be aware that anything I post here, is merely opinion based solely upon my personal tastes. I mainly read fic that centers around bromances, gen or otherwise, so I am really not at liberty to say much about het fic of f/f slash. With that in mind, feel free to peruse and comment - if you dare.
