This was my 1st large (1000+) con and I must say I HAD A FUCKING BLAST!!!! I went a bit apprehensive due to the size as I don't like large crowds, but left wanting to go back next year. So on to the the daily breakdown.
Friday-Bumped into another fur named vixen on the final leg of the greyhound trip (LA to San Jose) and we chatted and had a few laughs on the bus, other than that I didn't see her much the rest of the con. Got to the hotel around 7AM and checked in, I hung out in the lobby until 9 to avoid waking my room mates who were still sleeping. Got settled in, took a much needed shower after 32hrs on the bus, and went down to check out the hotel layout and con space. 10AM got into the registration line, perfect timing as I was toward the front and the number of bodies behind me multiplied exponentially. After registration I went to go find Duncan the Dog, I didn't see him so I called his cell, he was in his room suiting up. Bumped into his room mate Johnny Blanco, seemed nice at first, but by the end of the con I realized he's socially inept and has no conscience or morals. Spent the day hanging out with Duncan and being his pack-wolf (hauling his gear around). Stopped by the dealers den to see White Wolf. I commissioned 3 badges from her to replace the original 3 I lost at a meet last October. Had dinner around 5 at a place called Johnny Rockets which was next to the hotel. We have one in Denver and have never been there so I figured I'd try it out. I ordered a Philly cheese steak sandwich and onion rings. I was delivered food that looked like what I ordered, but tasted like deep fried cardboard, bland and flavorless. Finished the day off in typical raver fashion at the dances with my new Home of Poi led poi balls. The music was quite lame at first, but got better when they switched DJ's.
Saturday-Went down to the bakery adjacent to the hotel and ordered a spinach & mushroom panini type thing and coffee. Quite good for the price. Then I went up to Duncans room to help him with his stuff. Spent the day just hanging out and chilling with Duncan. Sometime around 1 or so we bumped into Bart the Husky who was taking pics of fursuiters in the main lobby, Duncan got to chatting with him cause he was all alone & found out it was his 1st con & he didn't really know anyone there, so we invited him to hang out, I was pleased to have someone else around as it gave me a chance to occasionally exit stage left as there was someone else to keep an eye on Duncans stuff and assist him if need be. Around 5 Duncan & I went to a cafe called Peggy Sues where I ordered another Philly cheese steak sandwich and Onion rings, and one for Duncan as well. It was 100 orders of magnitude better than Johnny Rockets. We then went back to the hotel and hung out for a bit, Duncan introduced me to another friend of his and told him I was the fur who flew him to RMFC, I was flattered Duncan did that, but felt it was unnecessarily shining a light in my direction as I didn't do it for glory or bragging rights. That evening Duncan scared the shit out of me but I won't go into details, although I made a point of it to keep an even closer eye on him. Finished the day in my typical raver fashion.
Sunday-Woke up and had breakfast at the cafe again. The day pretty much was a repeat of Saturday. Later that afternoon there were 2 cute Asian girls (4 & 5 I think) who Duncan gave some large smiley balloons to, so precious. Finished the day in the usual fashion, with our own local FreeFox DJ'ing for the closing set, he was so awesome that were were all shouting "en-core, en-core, en-core" when the last song played & the lights went on. The MC got on the mic & said "due to hotel restriction we cant do an encore, but your more then welcome to come next year and see him DJ". You go foxey!! So anyways, FreeFox secured his DJ spot for next year.
Monday-Had breakfast at the bakery & went up to say goodbye to Duncan as he was leaving that morning. It was then that I realized what kind of person Johnny Blanco is, as when he got the bill and noticed the hotel over charged him he said, "fuck it, it's not my money anyways" and then informed us it was on his moms credit card. WTF, he won't even stand up for his own family? Spent the day hanging out with random peeps and other Colorado furs. Went to the dead dog dance and someone caught me on camera glow-stringing with my flow-lights.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvOJA3Uuh98. The dance ended 45minutes premature, so Bart the Husky shouts, "after-party in the ally" and everyone makes their way to the ally that runs between the 2 parts of the hotel. It was awesome, he then organized a fursuit photo shoot. A while later, a local mundane walks up to us and asks, "whats this all about, it's so cool, are there local get togethers on a regular basis, is there a website, where do I get more info?", I shout, "who's from San Jose?", a few peeps speak up and I point to the guy and say, "he has questions for you".
Tuesday-Had breakfast at Peggy Sues with JBadger then went up and packed and headed to Greyhound.
Summary-Was a good con for the most part. The hotel was built like a fucking maze with poor signage so that, and the narrow walkways between dealers den tables were my biggest issues. Made a new friend in Bart the Husky.
